London’s Most Influential Theatre Personalities

London has always been one of the most well-known cities in the world. It has a strong cultural backbone, dabbling in a versatile mix of all arts that exist.

London’s Theatre
scene is populated by a wide variety of fairly influential figures. A reputable personality in question is Andrew Lloyd Webber; his main work as a composer for stage and film adaptations of his musicals has earned him a terrific amount of credit with such hits as Cats (1994), Evita, Phantom of the Opera and many more. Lloyd Webber has also worked successfully as a writer, producer and director. For his recognition, he has received an Academy award, two Oscar nominations, seven Tonys, three Grammys; alongside he was knighted in 1992 & created an honorary life peer in 1997, by the Queen.

Another personality of note is the husband & wife team from the Ambassador Theatre Group, Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire. The duo operates the highest number of theatres in London and other regions; and extend a powerful influence over London’s West End area and beyond. They own and operate more than 40 theatres across London & other areas. With a total worth of £150 million, as last quoted in 2009 – the Ambassador Theatre Group have since only expanded and become bigger with each passing year. Panter & Squire have only been the second entrants to top The Stage 100 list for three consecutive years.
